It would be easy to think that Alice Mumford’s work is all about her subject matter and to label her a ‘still life painter’ but that would be only half the story. It is colour that really excites her.
Alice is a passionate person; she is passionate about paint and colour and light and the myriad relationships and resonances that occur between different colours. (The latest being yellow). Not only does she speak about this passion with such an infectious enthusiasm, she carries this into the paintings, creating nuances with colour and brushstroke that makes the viewer see beyond the subject of still life.
It brings us enormous pleasure to be holding this long awaited third solo exhibition of Alice’s work at Badcocks.
