“Recently much of my work has focused on the sea and in particular areas of the British coastline, as opposed to the sun, sand and sea of the Mediterranean holiday. The paintings are frozen moments in time, personally insignificant but universally familiar. By placing the viewer as voyeur, maybe as a reluctant, curious or simply passive witness, the intention is to create an image that falls somewhere between the observed, the imagined and the remembered.” Stephen Read
