Over the half century that Elizabeth has spent mining her seemingly endlessly fecund
unconscious, she has managed to transform her private myths and dreams into palpable
realities that we can take for granted and hold this now public property close to our own hearts; artists have performed such a task throughout the ages.

Her couples discuss the intimacies of love in hushed tones whilst individuals that inhabit the portraits speak distinctly in foreign languages, French, Abyssinian, and unknown whispers from Kathmandu. Elizabeth’s work puts me in mind of those damsels with which Botticelli
transformed the female for us in one ecstatic swoop of his mind, brush and eye, working
together in magical unison.
