Jessica Cooper is a bold artist.
There is a powerful simplicity to her paintings that is commanding yet simultaneously tender and often poignant.
She is a confident perfectionist, having a strong sense of the ‘just-rightness’ of her compositions and in employing this confidence, she executes her work with uncompromising honesty. Increasingly, as Jessica’s career has flourished, her beautiful pared down paintings have earned her the admiration of her peers, collectors and curators alike.
This year she has received the distinction of being elected a member of the Royal West of England Academy and being selected to exhibit in the Tate St Ives ‘Art Now Cornwall’, an exhibition that featured new works from twenty eight of the county’s most influential artists.

The titles of Jessica’s paintings have often intrigued and amused and we are frequently asked for explanations. Some paintings start as a response to the minutiae of daily life: driving home through the rugged moors of West Penwith, glimpses through open doors, cake in a café, many others
develop from a more touching and personal perspective.

‘Tell me a story’ gives us a glimpse into the artists thought processes and the more profound
emotions that a painting can stimulate.
